These graduates of Archery Trails live all over the Northern California area - from Lafayette to Stockton to Grass Valley - but will meet together at any shoot that looks like it will be fun and challenging. The proper name given to this group was The Widsith Archers, taken from the Anglo-Saxon poem WIDSITH, about the wandering life of a Germanic minstrel and the legends he relates. However, due to the zany nature of the group, a more politically-incorrect name took hold: the one in the title above.

True to our name, our members attend shoots far and wide. Examples are the Maya Stickbow and Gene Foster Traditional shoots, the Conejo Traditional Challenge, the Eureka Sea Hunt, the CA State Broadhead Championships, the Bowhunter Happening in Flagstaff, Arizona and the Longbow Safaris in Canada and Montana.

Shooting at standard distance stakes and taking ordinary shots in our practice sessions is not part of our make-up. Shooting thru the Vs of trees, over one animal to hit the one behind, at strofoam balls on the ground and in trees, at moving pigs and turkeys, thru small discs, etc. is how we try to perfect our concentration and skills. Good-natured kidding while shooting is normal and expected.

Traditional style equipment is the norm for this group, although several members will hunt with compounds as well as stickbows.

Having a couple of engineers, pilots and math/info science folks in our midst also provides us with the collective technical expertise to understand the physics of archery and subsequently do some serious equipment tuning.  Several of the long-time members have also been certified instructors thru the NFAA and/or NAA. The end result has been well-tuned equipment and people that show their worth at the meets we attend.
